Associate Professor of Psychology at Florida Atlantic University and Founder of the Machine Perception and Cognitive Robotics Laboratory. Elan Barenholtz uses behavioral and embedded computational approaches, including neural networks running in robots, to study brain function and behavior. His research focuses on visual perception, object recognition, deep learning, and robotics. Co-developer of Astro, a robotic dog for detecting security threats. Associate Director of the Center for the Future Mind and affiliated with the Center for Complex Systems and Brain Sciences. His work explores how context affects object recognition and develops theoretical frameworks for neural function through interdisciplinary approaches combining psychology, neuroscience, computer science, and robotics.
